Setting up an Account
Making a Craigslist account is not actually necessary to post an ad, but you are going to need a valid email address. However, if you will be doing multiple posts then setting up an account will make it easier to manage and edit them.
Setting up a Craigslist account is even easier than setting up an email account. Just go to the Craigslist home page and click "my account" then "sign up for an account." Then just fill in your email address and the verification code and click "create account." Once you do that it will send an activation link to the email address you just provided so check your email and click on the link in the message that was just sent to you. You will then be prompted to choose a password of at least six characters. Your password should be something you will easily remember, but if you do forget you can always reset it later through the email you provided.
After that your account should be all set up. You will now be able to post new ads and manage them more conveniently. If you don't want to receive any replies via email then you have the option of removing your email from the posting all-together. Craigslist offers an anonymizer so you don't have to put your actual email address on the ad itself (which is a bad idea anyway). It gives those wishing to respond the option to send you an email but won't show them what it is. If you choose not to have email available just remember to include other types of contact information within the ad. Also email is often the preferred and most common way to receive inquiries about your post so removing it could possibly turn away potential customers.
